It is a dm from Emma Nastro, who I have not stopped hanging out with since they sent me that message. It was common to meet friends over Instagram during this time period as it was just coming back from the height of the holiday COVID breakout and dorms were still in lockdown, and it was hard to meet friends naturally. I still communicate with my friends and meet new friends over Instagram DM to this day. The text from Emma is written in response to my Instagram story of a post of Phoebe Bridgers smashing her guitar live on SNL. It reads “I know the end is one of the best songs ever made and this performance only proved it to me more.” We started talking about our mutual love for Phoebe Bridgers, became friends and have not stopped talking since. I pretty much talk to Emma everyday either in person or by text, FaceTime, call, Snapchat, and Instagram, probably more than one at once, every day. This is very representative of Emma and I’s texts to this day, as if I received this text right now after being friends for two years, the meaning of it would be no different.
