See Israel
Tiberias On the waterside in the city of Tiberias, Israel the sun sets behind a landscape of a palm tree, dock lit by torches, a waterside hotel, and a concrete boardwalk. On the dock there are five people standing by the boat that sits along the dock. In the water, to the right of the docked boat is a sailboat. Slightly in front of the dock there is a crenellated tower rising from the water. Across from the tower, on the boardwalk stands the hotel where on the floor level two people are placing decorations on the exterior and on the upper level there is a person looking out onto the water from a balcony. In front of the hotel on the very edge of the boardwalk there are five people walking or standing about and one person seated in a chair at the edge of the water. Further up the boardwalk there are four figures sitting on the edge of the boardwalk with their legs dangling over the edge. In front of them on the water there is a canoe that has three people who look like they are using a net to catch fish. Behind them, further from the water, there is a man and a woman sitting at a table with another figure, likely a waiter, standing next to them. Next closest to the viewer is another table which is right next to the edge of boardwalk, at this table a woman sits facing a man who is gesturing towards the water. Across from that table on the water is another canoe which holds two people, one who looks to be steering the boat and the other who looks to be pulling on a rope that most likely holds a cage to catch sea creatures. In the foreground, slightly left of center, is another man and woman sitting at a table along the water’s edge, next to them is a man sitting on the edge of the boardwalk with his legs dangling over the edge.
This lovely rose and blue tinted image of the waterside in Tiberias displays the leisurely evenings along the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. Haut monde jet-setters gather along the water’s edge to chat over blush pink cloth covered dining tables and stroll along the boardwalk, likely staying the night at the waterside hotel. Locals sit along the boardwalk’s edge gazing into the reflective water, taking in simple beauty of the sunset, and observing as the town fishermen gather the next day’s dinner haul in their small wooden canoes.

Egypt The Fascinating Land of Pharaohs A light yellow sky peaks over the edges of two massive pyramids. These pyramids tower over the city below which consists of simple structures and what looks to be a minaret of a mosque on the very left side of the image. In front of the city is a silhouette of a train passing by which runs just behind three palm trees, which due to there position in the utmost foreground, seem to tower even taller that the pyramids. This idealized image of an Egyptian city, one which somewhat resembles Cairo – specifically because of the minaret and domed structure on the left side of the image which look to be a representation of the Al-Azhar Mosque – depicts Egypt as a mysterious place with small cities that are surrounded by the grandest of wonders. The use of muted tones in the city buildings creates a sense of simplicity as well as mystery especially when set against the grandiose and bright background of the powerful pyramids and the towering silhouettes of beautiful palm trees.

Something Different?
Visit Mexico
National Railways of Mexico There is a man in white clothing with an orange hat covering his face in the foreground. He is laying in a field of greens with some freely growing plants around him with a plowed field behind him and a large snow-covered mountain in the farthest background. This person could be a traditionally dressed Mexican man looking about his farm set in Mexico's countryside. He seems neither aggressive or particularly friendly. This travel poster encourages tourists to visit Mexico and experience their traditional lifestyle and meet the people who tend to the land, weather the natives want tourists or not.

Alaska
Canadian National Railways This poster entices visitors to come to Alaska through the depictions of a majestic nature landscape bordered by a black and purple zig-zag boarder. Alaska is depicted with bright blue skies, a large sun overlooking snow covered mountains, glaciers and a harbor. The stylistic sun contrasts with the realistic mountains. A ship sails neighborly by the glaciers in the harbor. In the fore ground, cabins, Native American totem poles and flowers decorate a hill side. Colors include bright blues, oranges, pinks, yellows and greens. Grand Canyon
On the way to or from California, Santa Fe A sepia-toned view of the Grand Canyon landscape takes up a majority of the poster.Towards the upper left side, in the foreground, a solitary man is standing on an elevated rock, facing away from the viewer. Around him are loose rock deposits and plants typical of this area in Arizona. In the background is the vast and expansive Grand Canyon, which seems to stretch on infinitely. Half of the canyon is cast in shadow. The cloudy sky is only a sliver at the top of the poster. At the bottom of the poster are the words; "Grand Canyon: on the way to or from California."

Colorado Rockies
Black Hills and Utah 1934 Immense snow covered mountains make up the setting for the poster calling people to visit the Colorado Rockies. Blue, gray, brown and purple mountains are covered with snow which lead to rolling green hills and travel amenities in the fore ground. The blue sky is reduced to a small strip at the top of the image and the lake and red roofed cabin are dwarfed at the bottom. A tour guide dressed in traditional costume and two patrons riding horses, a cabin with six people, two more horses and a lake surrounded by forest are diminutive at the bottom. The poster states that “Train Travel Costs are Lower” and the Colorado Rockies were among one of the United States 1934 “National Park of the Year" which was commemorated with a stamp. These two facts as well as the imagery attracted visitors to see beautiful mountains for a great price.

Railway Express Agency Inc.
Southern Pacific The backdrop is a solid blue metropolitan skyline on a white background. There is a small, single-engine orange prop plane flying to the left. Below the plane is a Southern Pacific Railway boxcar with an open doorway, in which is a man with grey hair wearing white attire with a black smock. In front of the boxcar is a man in brown workclothes, brown cap, leather gloves, and a black bowtie carrying a thoroughly-marked shipping package. Blurbs such as “a service of speed …for a busy world’s need” and “221,000 miles of railroad” are clearly meant to advertise the proficiency with which the agency carries out its shipments. This sense of competence and expertise is further cemented by the worker in neat uniform, placed in front of two transportation vehicles, a plane and a train.

New Mexico and Arizona Rockies
Land of History and Mystery There are two men, one with his right hand raised and a large jug in the left, in the foreground with two smaller figures on horses father away near a train. In the background is a large mountain range, most likely the New Mexico Rockies, with a light blue sky above. All of these figures seem to be Native American men in the New Mexico/ Arizona desert area. This seems to be commenting on the New Mexico Rocky Mountains and the train travel that was brought non-native people to Arizona/ New Mexico area. The Native Americans appear at peace with the trains but there was turmoil among the Natives and other settlers. The raised hand of the one man symbolizes a halting signal, a resentment that may have been felt by the native people when white settlers intruded their land. Seeing as this is a travel poster, promoting travel to this destination, the raised hand could also present a friendly gesture.
-
Africa Commercial airplane at the top in the background. The word 'Africa' is in large text across the top. There are items of African material culture in the foreground that include two long spears, a large shield with a black and white design with red dots down the center, a drum with a handle, an orange musical instrument with beads around the neck. There is a red container with a white design. There is also a group of six antelopes on the left side of the shield.
Scandinavian Airlines System is promoting the travel to Africa. The poster is showing that the culture of Africa is rich and they take pride in their cultural items. Travelers see this and want to experience the rich culture of Africa.

Tea Set Letter
-
Tea Set Tea set used by Kate Gleason while she was abroad in Septmonts. The set was brought back from France when Kate's sister, Eleanor, settled her estate. In 1958, the set was given to the women's dorm at RIT (Gleason Hall) when the dorm was located in the old Frontenac hotel in downtown Rochester. At the time of the move to the Henrietta campus, the set was subsequently given to the Women's Club of RIT. It is now in the RIT Archive Collections.
