Prompt 3: Maine Sweatshirt
A navy blue crewneck sweatshirt embroidered with the word "maine" and a graphic image of a lighthouse in bright primary colors.
I bought this sweatshirt during a trip to The Lucky Flea, a secondhand market, last fall. I haven't gone a week without wearing it since.

Prompt 9: Roe v. Wade Protest
A screenshot of an iPhone lock screen. There is one notification, a text from Kara Cartwright (the author's aunt) that reads "Hello, Anna. Welcome to DC! Please try not to get trampled, teargassed, or arrested in the coming days."
This text is from the day that Roe v. Wade was overturned. I had been living in DC for my internship for about two weeks at that point, and as soon as the news broke everyone stopped working. At that moment, I was getting ready to head over to the Supreme Court building with some of my friends to join the protests. It was scary being there–– there were so many police officers, and I could see the snipers on top of the Court building pointed right at me–– but I had to do it. Just had to keep myself from getting trampled, teargassed, or arrested.

Prompt 7: RIT Experience
A photograph of the author's legs and feet standing on a snowy sidewalk. They are wearing brown pants and black boots. In front of them lies a red shoelace that has fallen in the rough shape of a heart.
My RIT experience has been about finding the happy moments. I remember this day clearly–– it was cold, snowing, and I had been having a bad day, but when I was on my way back to my apartment, I noticed this shoelace laying in the shape of a heart on the ground. It reminded me that little bits of love and of hope are always around if you look for them. I've definitely had some tough times here, but I've had some good ones too.

Prompt 6: Heritage
A photograph of a cell phone and an old photograph laying side by side on a wooden table. Even though the objects are obviously from different times, the subjects look similar. Both depict a young (toddler-age) child with short curly brown hair wearing overalls standing in a garden.
I took this photo of myself and one of my ancestors (great-great-something) on October 10th. My family is very small, very spread out, and not very close–– so when we're all together, it's not usually for a happy reason. My grandfather is dying, so we all flocked to Ohio to be with each other. When looking through family photos, I noticed how similar I look to someone who I never met. It's funny what carries through.

Personal Clothing James Falotico: Fossil Watch
This is a Fossil skeleton watch. It has dark brown bands made of leather that have some discoloration due to constant use. The watch face is tinted brown glass with a black steel frame. The inner workings of the watch are made of bronze gears. This watch is mechanical.
Context: I got this watch from my step-sister on my 20th birthday; it was one of the first gifts I ever received from my step-sister. This is also important to me because, according to her, “since you are 20 now, I need to get you better gifts, not just 20 bucks.” I wear this watch every single day.

Crush Tsum Tsum Plush
This is an 11", medium sized plush, made of polyester fibers and stuffed with polyethylene pellets, of the sea turtle Crush from the movie Finding Nemo. Over time, and after many trips in suitcases, the plush itself has become flatter than when I originally received it, and it is discolored from the amount of dirt that has accumulated on it over the years (and my forgetfulness to ever wash it). It smells of the lotions I typically use, since the plush does live in my bed and I usually apply lotion right before I go to sleep.

Disney World Sweatshirt
This is a gray, size medium, unisex sweatshirt, with imagery depicting all four of the parks in Disney World and attractions associated with each, on the front. The imagery of the parks goes from top to bottom: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. At the bottom of the image it says "Discover the Magic," and along the the left-hand sleeve "Walt Disney World" is written. On the back of the sweatshirt, in the top center, is a compass, with Mickey Mouse's head replacing the middle portion, leaving only the arrows visible around his head.
